Exploring Google Earth Engine Platform for Big Data Processing: Classification of Multi-Temporal Satellite Imagery for Crop Mapping
Many applied problems arising in agricultural monitoring and food security require reliable crop maps at national or global scale. Large scale crop mapping requires processing and management of large amount of heterogeneous satellite imagery acquired by various sensors that consequently leads to a “Big Data” problem. The main objective of this study is to explore efficiency of using the Google ...
متن کاملLeveraging big data in population health management
Background: Population health management takes into account many determinants of health, including medical care, social and physical environments and related services, genetics, and individual behavior. Many different types of data may be used to guide population health management programs and to estimate program value. In addition to the variety of data required for these programs, big populat...
متن کاملMapping Environmental Suitability for Malaria Transmission, Greece
During 2009-2012, Greece experienced a resurgence of domestic malaria transmission. To help guide malaria response efforts, we used spatial modeling to characterize environmental signatures of areas suitable for transmission. Nonlinear discriminant analysis indicated that sea-level altitude and land-surface temperature parameters are predictive in this regard.
متن کاملUtilizing Big Data for Public Health
Big data is usually defined as information assets characterized by such high volume, velocity, and variety that specific technology and analytical methods are required for its transformation into value.1 Analysis of big data may provide useful information in a variety of areas, including healthcare.2 Numbers of data sets obtained from routine operations in the area of healthcare have rapidly in...
متن کاملGoogle Earth Engine, Open-Access Satellite Data, and Machine Learning in Support of Large-Area Probabilistic Wetland Mapping
Modern advances in cloud computing and machine-leaning algorithms are shifting the manner in which Earth-observation (EO) data are used for environmental monitoring, particularly as we settle into the era of free, open-access satellite data streams. Wetland delineation represents a particularly worthy application of this emerging research trend, since wetlands are an ecologically important yet ...
